CONSTITUTION

 

§ 1 OBJECTIVES

The Norwegian Society of Public Health has as its objectives to work for an increase in the understanding of and the interest for research, education and dissemination of knowledge in health promotion and preventive medicine, related to Community Medicine, Social Medicine and Public Health.

§ 2 METHODS

The Society shall through scientific and practical initiatives on national and international level, work on community related health issues. The society shall stimulate interdisciplinary research, and impart knowledge on community health through courses, conferences and seminar activities.

§ 3  MEMBERSHIP

The Norwegian Society of Public Health is open to persons, organisations, companies, and institutions with the interest in research and development within health promotion, prevention, treatment and rehabilitation.

§ 4 BOARD

An interdisciplinary Board with up to seven members governs the Norwegian Society of Public Health, all with substitutes. The Board is elected for two years, however in such manner that three of the members of the Board is elected every year. The President, one or two Vice-presidents, the Secretary and the Treasurer are elected amongst the board members.

The Governing Board has a quorum with the presence of three Board members. The decisions of the Boards are taken by a majority vote. At an equality of votes, the President has the casting vote.

The Board may appoint committees and reference groups for its work.

§ 5 ANNUAL MEETING

The Annual Meeting is to be arranged every year.

To the Annual Meeting, the Annual Report and the Annual Accounts are brought forward for approval.

The Annual Meeting elects representatives to the Board, decides on the annual contingent and sanctions on the activities for the next year.

Qualified to vote are members who have paid with the contingent for the current year.

§ 6 SIGNATURE AND PROCURATION

Two members of the Board jointly or the President and the Treasurer together has the signature of the Society. The Board may give procuration.

§ 7  ACCOUNTS AND AUDITION

The accounts and the auditor's report of the last year must be produced for the

Board within three months into the calendar year.

§ 8 RELATIONS TO OTHER ORGANISATIONS

The Norwegian Society of Public Health may be a member of Norwegian and International organisations working in the field of health promoting research, information and development with corresponding interests.

§ 9  DISSOLUTION

The Norwegian Society of Public Health can be dissolved after a decision by a 3/4 majority vote at two annual meetings.

Possible remaining assets are to be transferred to an association or an institution with similar objectives as the Norwegian Society of Public Health.
